A women-owned and operated business, Bench Strength was founded by Heather Wilson in 2008.  Heather started Wilson Strategic Consulting in 2004 and discovered that after leaving The Home Depot, she loved the flexibility, financial freedom and entrepreneurial challenges of being an Independent Contractor, but also found that she was alone.  There was a void in the market for how to be a successful and fulfilled solo-preneur.

So, she started networking with other professionals that were working alone and she also started collaborating with peers, helped others get their business structure set-up and ultimately started placing others in contract positions with her contacts.

She saw a need for a community of liked-minded professionals that want to work for large corporate clients, but also want to retain the flexibility and freedom of an Independent Contractor.  She also saw the need for companies to have a resource to call on when they need to hire a contractor to assist with a special project, fill in for someone on maternity leave or augment the existing staff when there's too much work to get done.

Bench Strength is the "connector" between Independent Consultants and businesses that want to hire people for interim projects.  We seek members that want the best out of life personally and professionally.  As  a result, we have created a community that is made of a variety of professional backgrounds and experiences from world-class organizations such as The Home Depot, The Coca-Cola Company, Georgia Pacific, UPS and others -- but are all founded on a strong desire to collaborate with others, do great work and enjoy life!

Heather brings to Bench Strength a deep desire to "connect" people.  Her deep roots in direct marketing, retailing and branding has ultimately ended up in Bench Strength to provide a community for solo-preneurs, independent consultants, contractors and freelancers to collaborate, connect and learn how to successfully grow their business.

Heather has a strong background in strategic planning, consulting and marketing.  She also has another company, Wilson Strategic Consulting which specializes helping clients with their business strategy, integrated marketing campaigns and organizational effectiveness built on consumer insights.

Wilson enjoys teaching and has taught Entrepreneurship and Email Marketing at Emory University.  She has also guest lectured at the Goizueta Business School, spoken at the Women in Business Conference at Darden and the SEN Conference in Denver, CO.

Heather holds an MBA with a focus on Strategy and Marketing from The Goizueta Business School at Emory Univeristy and a BS from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.  She resided in Atlanta, Georgia and Hilton Head Island, SC with her two dogs, Callie and Swedie.
